If you're looking for an affordable way to spruce up your home or business's exterior with our high quality products, then Pro Concrete Harrisonburg would like to be your ultimate source!

Harrisonburg Concrete is your go to solution for all things related to residential concrete. When you are ready to add the beauty and durability of concrete to your home, just give us a call, text, or fill out the form and we’ll get you scheduled for a FREE QUOTE with one of our experienced and highly skilled concrete specialists. We also offer concrete repair as a way to save money and refresh your concrete surfaces.

While many people continue to think of concrete as simply a durable and long lasting product for foundations, basements, and sidewalks, here at Harrisonburg Concrete we know that it can be so much more. Here's a few of our favorites:

Concrete flooring:

Ultra-durable, low maintenance concrete flooring is another option that Pro Concrete Harrisonburg provides for homeowners. You can choose to have this type of floor installed on any level or area inside your house--it's a great choice if you're looking for an easy cleanup and want something visually pleasing as well.

Whether you’re looking for a traditional or contemporary look, concrete is perfect for the job. You can mix and match colors to create your own custom design, which will be as unique as your home! Or go with highly polished and stained floors for a luxury feel that is durable and easy to maintain.

We also offer stunning and highly durable epoxy floors. Whether you want garage epoxy floors, or even
kitchen epoxy floors, you can count on our commitment to quality throughout your home or business. That's right, we can even do large scale commercial epoxy floors throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Stamped concrete:

Residential Concrete is the perfect option for your home if you're looking to remodel and add some style! We offer stamped concrete, which we can create in any design or pattern that will suit your tastes best. Stamped concrete provides a unique look with various colors, textures, and designs--it's an excellent choice for homeowners who want something different from what their neighbors have without sacrificing durability or low-maintenance cleanliness. With us as your residential contractor there won't be anything standing in the way of your dream home!

Stamped concrete can be anything from a contemporary design to an artistic pattern. It’s perfect for any part of your home and the stamped patterns can be colored by adding pigments, which is another way that you can customize it! You can get the luxurious look of stone at a significant savings with easy maintenance and a durable finish. Or even get the look of wood flooring stamped and colored into your concrete for a uniquely durable flooring surface. We offer custom stamping for our clients so that you can create your own unique handcrafted designs from something as basic as lines to intricate shapes with swirled details. This really helps make a piece of concrete all yours!

And stamped concrete patios are a great way to add curb appeal and value to your home or business. The luxurious look of stamped concrete will attract buyers and impress customers. Don't relegate concrete to just a walking surface... roll out the red carpet with the invitation of stamped concrete!

Concrete Flatwork:

While not as sexy as stamped concrete, it's hard to beat good ol' concrete sidewalks, walkways, paths, patios etc. When you need concrete that is level, durable, and smooth as glass (or textured for safety) you can count on our concrete experts to deliver. We will complete your project on time and on budget.

Some people think it's easy to throw together concrete flatwork and call it a day. But we know what happens when a concrete pour goes wrong because of slap-dash work and poor quality control... we've torn out plenty of other people's work before re-doing the project the right way. So when you want your concrete finishing done right the first time, with top notch quality control, call Pro Concrete Harrisonburg. We take the job of concrete finishing seriously, so you are guaranteed complete satisfaction with your concrete flatwork.

Concrete fireplace:

It's a great feeling to relax next to your custom fireplace on a concrete patio at the end of the day, sipping your drink of choice, and watching the sun slip beneath the horizon. Add a nice privacy fence from one of the reputable fencing companies around, and you'll have your own private oasis. A custom concrete fireplace, perhaps built into a custom concrete patio, will add enjoyment and value to your backyard for years to come.

With so many different shapes and sizes available, we have something that will fit perfectly into your home décor. We only use high quality materials too, which means that they’ll last as long as possible while still looking beautiful and adding tremendous value to your home.

We offer residential services with no job being too small or large for us to handle. Whether you're looking for a new concrete driveway or just want some concrete steps built around your house our team has what it takes to get the job done right.

We have an extensive portfolio for residential services where we've done everything from driveways and sidewalks to basements, patios, patio stairs and more. Our team knows what it takes to make sure every project comes out looking incredible while being budget-friendly for you.

We also specialize in commercial concrete services too, so if your business needs some commercial or industrial concrete work done, and you want it to look professional, then we're the right concrete company for you. We'll be able to do everything from sidewalks and curbs all the way up to providing a complete parking lot with plenty of space left over for landscaping which will give it that finished touch.

Decorative and Stamped Concrete

Concrete is so very versatile in application. Whether you want polished concrete floors, colored concrete for specialty applications, or the stamped concrete that is quickly gaining in popularity, you will love the addition of decorative concrete to your home.

Stamped concrete is created by a great process where concrete is poured and then stamped with special patterns that mimic other material. The most popular styles are those that mimic natural stones, brick, or even wood! Combining the stamping pattern with a unique coloring process can give you the look of a high end product at a more affordable price point while gaining greater durability and use. Some of the most popular are stamped concrete that look like custom laid flagstone or slate. A high end look at a lower price than the material it is mimicking, with increased durability and ease of maintenance. A win all around!

Polished concrete, especially when colored or stained has been gaining traction for use in residential flooring applications. The durability is incredible as its use has previously been proven in industrial applications. Polished and stained concrete can really bring a home alive with a high-end look that is unparalleled, especially for that modern/industrial look.

If you've been looking for the best stamped concrete contractor Harrisonburg can offer... you've landed on the right website. Gives us a call and let us impress you!

Structural Poured Concrete

Concrete is a very durable product. That’s why it has been used so long for sidewalks and foundations, both in residential and commercial applications. At Harrisonburg Concrete we are experts at poured concrete for structural use. A concrete foundation is the, well, FOUNDATION of your home. Get it done right the first time and know that your home is built on a solid foundation that will last without issues that can be, quite frankly, expensive to fix down the road.

We put our same level of detail to everything we do. So when your project calls for simply concrete sidewalks, curbing, or a poured concrete slab, we know it’s anything but simple. Concrete is amazing when done right but can quickly be a nightmare when substandard practices are used. Whatever your concrete needs, call the right concrete company for the job. At Harrisonburg Concrete we put our reputation on every job done, so you know it’s done right.

For any size home we can provide a solidly built concrete foundation. Whether a standard single family home, a duplex, or a large custom home, our concrete contractors are able to provide an excellent final product and custom service. And if you are considering a basement as well, let us know, We can recommend the right basement setup for you based on your needs and the lay of the land. Give us a call to get your FREE quote. Nothing will move forward without your foundation in place, so call today.

Commercial Concrete

Commercial Concrete is not the same as residential concrete just on a larger scale. Commercial concrete needs to be up to the rigors of everyday heavy use and often has much higher strengths needed. We understand that and we can provide exactly what you need. Call us for a custom quote from a true commercial concrete contractor.

Commercial concrete requires a different process than residential. We will work with you to determine the right mixture for your project, and then pour it in layers creating a smooth surface that can withstand heavy traffic.

There are many uses for commercial grade concrete that will benefit your business. We can pour it as a flooring material, to create walkways and entry ways around your building. Concrete is also effective in creating walls or barriers that are both durable and decorative.

Concrete can be used as a durable surface for your patio, pool decking, walkways and even flooring in many cases! We offer an array of concrete products to complete the job.

Patios made with decorative pavers or stamped concrete are strong enough for outdoor furniture like benches, chairs and tables which can be used at any time during the year for entertaining guests as well as family gatherings such as weddings, birthdays or anniversaries.

Another one of the major types of commercial concrete that finds lots of use in the Shenandoah Valley is Agricultural Concrete. Pro Concrete Harrisonburg specializes in various agricultural concrete contractor projects, such as dairy barns, chicken houses, manger pits, grain bins and silo pads.

Pro Concrete Harrisonburg is a full-service concrete contractor in the Harrisonburg, VA area. We specialize in residential and commercial concrete projects of all sizes. We are the concrete contractor Harrisonburg wants and deserves! Frequently Asked Questions

  • Concrete vs Cement?

We understand that concrete and cement are terms that are often used interchangeably. However, the truth is that cement, as in Portland Cement, is actually an ingredient found in Concrete. Crazy, right? Concrete is made up of aggregates (sand, gravel, crushed stone) and a paste (water and Portland Cement).  Mix the 2 and you get concrete. So it's ok if you use the two terms interchangeably, we won't hold it against you. But technically, cement is a component of concrete. Now you know!

  • Is it cheaper to pour your own concrete?

Pouring your own concrete would seem to be a cost-saving method for building, but the time and effort involved in this process probably cancels out any savings. Also, it is difficult to achieve concrete of consistent quality or strength if you are pouring without professional assistance. The materials required can be purchased in bulk, but the equipment and skills necessary to mix and pour the concrete are usually acquired over years and may not be available at home. Without the proper (and expensive) tools and equipment it is difficult to impossible to attain the smooth, level, and attractive finish we have come to expect with concrete.

To achieve the great looks and long-lasting durability of concrete, it's definitely highly recommended to hire a professional. DIY can be great for very small projects such as a few custom pavers in your garden, or a small pad to set a bench on in the backyard. For any larger projects where forms are being built, leveling is needed, or time requirements and structural integrity are important it is best to call in professional help.

  • How long does Concrete take to cure?

There are quite a few factors that go into a final cure time, so every concrete pour may be a little different. Factors include the specific mix of concrete, the temperature and humidity, as well as the depth of concrete poured. In general though, it takes 2-3 hours for concrete to set, 7 days to fully cure, and 28 days to reach maximal strength.

  • Can Concrete be a color other than gray?

Absolutely! Coloring concrete is becoming more and more popular, particularly when combined with stamped concrete. Concrete colors can be mixed in during the pour or applied later as an acid stain or special paint. Whatever method is chosen, we can provide a great array of colors for any project you have in mind. Give us a call and let's discuss your project.

  • What Concrete Maintenance do I need?

This is a great question! While concrete is an extremely durable product, it's not indestructible. Avoiding harsh acids for cleaning, and de-icing chemicals is a good start. Regularly cleaning and sealing your concrete will improved its lifespan and enjoyment. Don't allow overweight vehicles on to a poured concrete product or cracking and buckling could ensue. Ask your local concrete expert what the allowable weight is for specific product.

Proper Concrete maintenance will go a long way toward extended enjoyment of your concrete product. We offer complete concrete maintenance and repairs when needed. We're just a phone call away.

  • How do you remove stains from concrete?

There are several methods for removing stains from concrete and we are experts at all of them. Though concrete is very durable, it is not indestructible and should be stain treated with care so as to not undermine its strength.

For minor stains, the first step is to remove as much of the stain as possible with a scrub brush and water. Next you will want to use an alkaline solution like Lime-Away or Soda Crystal Cleaner. Last, you can apply a degreaser and then finish with the concrete sealant of your choice.

For more intense stains you may use dry methods such as sandblasting. However, there are other options such as flame cleaning and shotblasting which both use some form of abrasive in order to clean the surface. These methods typically result in an even appearance with less visible pores or pits on the area that was treated compared to grinding for example which leaves behind small scratches and marks when it's used on this type of material.

There are also wet methods for stain removal. The wet methods of removing concrete stains include the application of water or specific chemicals to dissolve and eliminate any potentially visible staining substances. These solutions are determined by what type of stain is present on your surfaces, whether it's a natural substance like coffee that can be dissolved with vinegar; an organic matter like grass clippings which needs bleach for removal; or something inorganic such as oil products which require hot water extraction (sometimes also requiring chemical additives) such as in power washing. You should always consult experts before deciding how best to clean your concrete.

  • Can concrete be poured in the rain?

We should always set out to protect our surface work from the elements whenever we can. Concrete is no exception.

In the real world time and weather does not often/ever wait for us to prepare. In those rare cases where pouring concrete must be done in the rain, then one of two things are going to happen. If a proper foundation or formwork has been built there may not be any issues with water permeating through and causing damage down below. This would take extra preparation such as properly sealing all sides and joints of forms and placing tarps or plastic sheeting over the freshly poured concrete to protect it from too much rain.

It could also go terribly wrong at this stage, resulting in torn up concrete, lost time, poor quality concrete that is peeling/flaking off or even worse a mold infested foundation due to not enough care being taken during the process.

With proper preparation and forethought, a little rain won't hurt a fresh concrete pour. While it always best to pour concrete in dry conditions, our concrete experts have the experience to gauge every single project to ensure that rain before or after won't affect the final product.

  • Why do concrete surfaces flake and spall?

The concrete surface will flake or spall when water sits on the surface too long after it has dried. This can happen in two ways, either from cracks that form due to shrinkage and stress as well as heaving (where a slab is unevenly sloped) which cause some of the water to seep under and freeze; or by rainwater soaking into an unprotected porous layer below ground level which freezes eventually expanding beneath the concrete's surface.

If this is happening to your concrete, you can call on our concrete repair specialists to take care of the issue quickly and effectively.

  • Why does concrete crack?

When concrete dries out, its volume changes. Typical volumes change by about 500 millionths of an inch in 10 feet- that is 1/16th of an inch over the course of a 100 foot stretch of concrete. Concrete contractors put joints in when pouring to account for this shrinkage so when cracks form they do not run together and make it appear like one giant crack across the floor or pavement but instead stay neat and straight at each joint where there are separate pieces meeting up with other ones next door.

Concrete can crack for a variety of reasons. In some cases, the concrete is too thin or there are not enough reinforcing materials to support it; in other cases it may be due to improper curing procedures which can happen with new construction projects where the building process is rushed.

If your sidewalk has cracks that keep growing wider over time, you'll need our professional service team on hand as soon as possible.

  • Can concrete cracks be repaired?

Yes, your professional service team can repair cracks in concrete with a variety of techniques. It will depend on the severity of the crack and where it is located to determine which technique would be best for you. If the crack is very deep or if there are many cracks that cross each other, we might need to jackhammer out all or part of the affected area before filling it back full size with fresh concrete.

When it comes to patching and sealing cracks in concrete, there are many different options available. For larger cracks that measure over 1/4 inch wide, a more permanent solution would be using a concrete patch compound mixed with water. Smaller fractures less than an inch or so can be repaired quickly by applying liquid-filled polymer sealant from the inside of the structure outwards towards any visible damage on either side. The best thing about this option is its speed; most repairs only take minutes at most!

  • Concrete vs Asphalt

This is a frequent question we hear, especially in regards to driveways. While we obviously prefer concrete, asphalt has its place as well.

Concrete is often more expensive to install than asphalt but you get so much more for that cost. Concrete is more durable, with more application uses, and adds more value to your home or business.

Read our page on the pros and cons of concrete and asphalt and make your own decision. We believe that concrete stands on its own merits and is a fantastic option with many uses. But each project and use is different. Call us for an expert opinion, we'll shoot you straight.

Concrete Stamping

Concrete stamping is a process where a pattern is pressed into concrete. Stamping can be used on any surface that is poured in place or precast, including patios, driveways and small commercial buildings.

Often stamped concrete patterns are designed to look like brick pavers that have been arranged in an attractive repeating pattern. Concrete stamping can also create single texture designs to mimic stone or other textures.

Stamped concrete is a great way to update an old surface that is otherwise rather unattractive. It is also easy to keep clean and low-maintenance, so it can be used in exterior areas.
